staking down colony traps?

it says in the regulations book you can start using colony traps in feburary 2011. just wondering if i should stake them down?

it would depend on location, ice, and depth of the river i wouldnt for mine but it never hurts to be safe maybe tie a rope to the cage and tie it to a stake in the ground

no i only trap Wi born and raised
