Post subject:  Looking for advice on dry land sets in clay country

As the subject heading says.....looking for advice. I'm talking clay, not clay loam, sandy clay, or clayey sand - CLAY. When it gets wet, as it will in late Sept. until it freezes, it gets soft, and water will pool in around the trap. And then there is covering it with dirt - when the clay is soft it won't be going through any sifter - so do I carry in bedding dirt/sand for the cover?

Also have concerns about staking - is 18", even with a bend near the end, long enough? Or should double staking be the 'rule'? I also purchased some Berkshire disposables - I think I put 12" or 18" cable on those - any thoughts??

Welcome to the forums Jack. Glad to have you here. If you have not done it already I would post your questions in the Trap Line section. You should get quite a few replies there.
