While I'm laid up, I am trying to compile a list of links to each states trapping regs on my computer since we have new folks joining all the time and needing to know their state regs. This would make it easier for me to quickly direct them. I got to Florida and had to call them because I couldn't find much. I talked to the fur bearer specialist. He was a former trapper in Tennesse while in school. He told me that the only thing you can use is snares and cages. There are no foot holds or body grippers allowed, so there realy isn't a trapping season there. The little bit of info there is is on pages 19 & 22 of the hunting handbook: http://myfwc.com/hunting/pdf/08-09Hunti ... ndbook.pdf

If you have any other questions you may contact him at (850) 627-1773 ext 102 His name is Kurt Hodges. He said these laws were in place LONG before he got there, and as much as he would like to see them changed, that isn't very likely. I don't know if anyone here is in Florida, but if you're thinking of retiring there, here's something for you to consider.

I know this post is about a year old, but I was scanning the other forums and came upon this one.
As a nuisance trapper I have special permission from the FWC regional office to use foot hold although they have to be rubber jaw traps and also conibear traps for beaver as long as they are completly submerged. There are a few exceptions to the non trapping laws.
Good luck
