To anyone out there that didn't know, the lawsuit filed by the API of California against the State of Maine for trapping in violation to the Endangered Species Act has been settled.

The Federal judge, himself a Maine native, urged the settlement because after reviewing the case he felt the state would lose.

The details of the settlement, which involve some new laws regarding trap placement and size restrictions, comes just in time to allow our normal trapping season to start in a few days and continue to the end of the year without worrying about the courts making it illegal.

It could have been worse...
