Bloomy,
I have got some pictures from a big male I got last week. They are on my computer at home, so I will try to remember to post them when I get home tonight. Our otter are quite dark, so I would like to see some pictures of some southern otter to compare the colorations to.

Bloomys right, we dont have a season here. we get fined if we get caught with one in our trap if a warden sees it. they have to be tagged and all. we got some in the fur house though. the guys from Ohio come over to sell to us and we have got 2 in so far this year.

to be honest Bloomy i dont see it happening for lnger thanthat. first they will want to charge us for the tag like our bobcat. i dont think they will because of the lisence plates that have an otter on them. its a bunch of bologna why we dont have a small season. a guy came in today that caughtoneby accident in a coon set with a 1.5 coil and the GC fined him for catching it. go figure. and they didnt even release it he had to after they left. bunch of bull is what it is.

Sorry fellows for the one large sized photo....that was back before I knew how to size them properly and it was saved in the Photobucket site. Otter are usually slow to skin, but I really enjoy handling them....they are my favorite animal to capture. They are also the strongest and most vicious that I deal with. They have beautiful pelts. The only time I have had any luck with an otter coming to any sort of bait is when I'll catch one on accident at a coon set baited with JackMack.

Bloomy,
Here are the pictures I told you I would post, and as you can tell I forgot the other night, but remembered just now. My picture taking abilities aren't quite as good as Swamps, but enjoy.

I guess those pics are awful small, I will try to resize them when I get home tonight, if I can figure out how to do that.

my dad had an otter swim between his legs when he was fishing the other year. he also had a muskrat charge him (i was with him for that). You think we could have a drawing of maybe 500 tags. and i otter per tag. AT LEAST!!!
I think we are not allowed to set conis on land because they don't want us catching fisher.

we dont have a stable population in my part of the state. you hear of people seeing them but i never have. i guess in towards Elk county they are a problem... i talked to a guy recently that said that he woudl catch 4 or 5 a week in his coon sets and have to let them go.

here in somerset county i have never seen an otter or sign of one for that matter. i think the likelihood of a fisher season is greater than that of an otter season.
