I know the pics are not very good, but they are two skunks that TORE UP my yard in one night! I decided to set 3 cages and I woke up to 2 skunks trapped. These were my 1st skunks ever catching so I was a little worried about getting sprayed but the catch and release went VERY VERY well! Thought Id share with everyone.

Man, those are some white skunks, too bad you couldn't have come across them come season time. Congrats on the catches! I like skunks in live traps, they are easy to deal with. Another thing you can do to keep from getting directly sprayed is to cover the outside of the trap with cardboard or something along that line before you set the trap. That way you don't have to worry about covering it when you first get there and spooking the skunk enough that it sprays.

release them??

Is there actually a closed season on them.

They are unprotected here, so they are open all year.

Skunks are a furbearer here and can only be trapped during season. Only unprotected game here are woodchucks, red squirels, porkies and some non native sparrrow.

7oaks- I've actually caught 4 skunks as of now and I LOVE catching them!! Everyone I caught with dog food in a havaheart trap. I actually just caught my 4th one this past Saturday night. I really wish I had more time on my hands because I really wanted to skin them and try out my luck taking out the essence. Im confident I can do it if Im not rushed. Ive had four now and I feel like its been a few dollars wasted! ......Bronco2- I actually found out we do have an open season for skunks here in NH. Im licensed to catch them year round (in summertime for nuisance), being a wildlife control operator. But open season for them here is Sept 1st-march 31st no daily limit and no season limit. 3 out of the 4 has been in my own yard and one at my buddies house a mile away, so that coulda been a few easy dollars lol But.... lots of people around my town are having issues with skunks this year all of a sudden so I still might get a few.
