Just a heads up for everyone wanting to hit a late convention. District #1 of the Virginia Trappers Association will he holding our Fall Convention Oct 18, 19 and 20th. Some of the vendors there will be Paul Dobbins, who owns this site, Scott Painter of Blueridge Outdoor Supplies from Va, Mike Murray from West Va, of Murrays trapping supplies, John Coakley from Va, Garry Fuller of fuller boy scents and trapping supplies, John Epler of Epler trapping supplies from Pa, John from seven Oaks will be there with his drowning rods and other supplies. If you are coming to this event and need something brought give one of these guys a call and they can bring those special items you may need..

There is plenty of tailgaiting sites. No charge. There have already been several tailgaiters calling about setting up so its going to be a good one..

It will be held at Bland county fairgrounds in Bland. There are a limited number of elec hookup and water for camping and plenty of tent space.

We have what we call a bunkhouse with a wood stove if you want to bring a cot and sleeping bag. There is also a motel close by and they are hardly ever full, with lots of motels in Wytheville as well.
We have a potluck meal on Friday night and will have a couple of the members picking and grinning later.

Trapperman Matt Jones will be there on Friday and Saturday and will be doing a demo Saturday before noon.

There will be a lot of fur skinning and put up demos both days and hopefully I can post the schedule as soon as it is finalized. Its a great time of year to be traveling and enjoying what our mountains have to offer.

District #1 is raffling a Henry Golden boy, so get with one of the d-1 members and pick up a few tickets. We use these monies to sponsor all of our events thru ought the year.

My ph is 276-722-2574 if any questions......larry king

There is a tiny town in southeast TX (Spurger TX) with a store called Mott's. Each fall it has a Knife Show which is basically a CASE knife themed show. Being in such a small place, it has often placed 3rd in the nation for CASE knife sales. The two big stores ahead of it is Smokey Mtn Knife Works and Shepherd of the Hills Knives. You can check them out at http://www.TKCKnives.com

Thanks for that info. Seems most all brands are ending up being produced in Asia.
